Celebrating God's Blessings

The Historic St. James AME Church in Elgin marked its 124th anniversary Sunday, April 24th, but its thriving membership has also given its leaders reason to celebrate.

The month-long anniversary celebration concluded with a 3 p.m. worship service in the church's elaborate sanctuary.

As part of the celebration, St. James was joined by members of Christian Tabernacle Church, Roselle Illinois, Living Faith AME Church, Schaumburg, IL and Faith Community AME Church, South Elgin, IL for an afternoon of praise, song and words of encouragement. The speaker for the afternoon was Rev. Larry Bullock.

The members of St James would like to consider this as not a celebration of the past 124 years but a day of celebration for the next 124 years in Elgin.
