WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2015 - On Wednesday, September 2, 2015, clergymen representing the African Episcopal Church (AME) will hold a press conference at 10 a.m. ET at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Speakers will present ideas and plans to call upon the nation's elected political leadership, citizens, and people of good will across the nation to confront and take action to end racism. Action items will address existing needs such as criminal justice reform, education, economic justice, gun reform and voting rights.

Bishop Lawrence Reddick, Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Illinois

Following numerous acts of violence plaguing the black community, including the tragedy at Mother Emanuel AME Church, Charleston, South Carolina where nine congregants were murdered, the AME Church has decided to take the opportunity to impact our nation, to motivate the United States to confront and address the issues which have led to such violence.
